About Secret Picnic

All of Secret Picnic's treasures are designed with simple elegance. The necklaces and earrings came about as a need for simple and beautiful jewelry to give as gifts. Everyone loved them and their friends wondered where they could get something like what they had. Everything in the collection is handmade and treated like a little piece of art where the wearer is the canvas. We hunt for the most interesting objects and dynamic baubles, then match them all together with sterling silver and gold filled components for added sparkle and shine.

"Secret Picnic" came about as an homage to the creativity that was and still is inspired by the magical life of Dare Wright. She wrote and photographed the strangely odd and innocently macabre children books "The Lonely Doll" and "Lona" as well as many others from a day gone by. Rediscovering her books and reading her life's story inspired the name for this jewelry line. The name sprung from the secret picnic that *Brook Ashley and her friend Winky created in Manhattan's Central Park to celebrate Dare's life.

*Brook Ashley is the soul heir of Dares Wright's estate and was the charming subject of many of Dare's photographic endeavors. You can find out about all about Dare's fantastically unreal life and her books on Brook Ashley's web site:
